The mission of the Block Parent® Program is to provide immediate assistance through a safety network and to offer supportive community educational programs.

Mandate

The mandate of the Block Parent® Program is:

  • To assure that there is a minimum of one Block Parent Window Sign in each community (business or residential); and
  • To provide a network of Police and BPPCI screened, easily recognizable, safe homes or businesses for members of the community, especially children, to turn to in times of distress; and/or
  • To educate children about the Block Parent Program, safety on the streets and within the home; and/or
  • To develop promotions and materials to educate the community about the Block Parent Program and personal safety; and/or
  • To work together with the police, school boards and other community groups towards safer communities.

 

 Goals

To fulfill our mission, the Block Parent® Program will:

  • increase the number of Block Parent volunteers, homes and/or businesses across Canada;
  • educate the public on issues such as child safety and the benefits of the Block Parent Program;
  • cultivate our relationship with police, educators, social agencies, and government departments; and
  • provide information on the Block Parent Program and give council to others on related issues.

The Block Parent® Program respects the privacy of our volunteers and is committed to keeping your personal information accurate, confidential, secure and private.

Our Privacy Policy complies with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and similar provincial privacy legislation. All individuals involved in the administration of the Community Programs must adhere to our Privacy Policy and related procedures.

The personal information we collect is used only for the purposes required to become a Block Parent and for the administration of the Community Block Parent® Program. It will be held in the strictest confidence and will not be shared, sold or released to any unauthorized person, organization or third party.
